October 2017 Solicitations

Postby cc008 » Sat Jul 08, 2017 9:14 am

The full list isn't out yet, but we have some Deadpool stuff announced already:

IGN Comics: What does Deadpool have to do with all this?

Bendis: His involvement is a big clue to who ends up being the new Kingpin. Don't worry, it’s not him :-) Oh wait, maybe it should be. That's not a totally terrible idea. Deadpool is the new kingpin? Hmmmm… :)

IGN Comics: How does Despicable Deadpool embrace Marvel Legacy?

Writer Gerry Duggan: Mid-way through the event it's not a secret to readers that Deadpool will get burned in Secret Empire. He will receive the blame for everything he did, and none of the credit for any of the strings he pulled behind the scenes. Peter Parker's luck has nothing on Wilson's. Deadpool's origins were that of a villain. That's what we're honoring in Legacy.

Editor Jordan White: Deadpool started off as a bad guy when he appeared in New Mutants, and we’re bringing him back to those roots. Wade’s spent the last few years trying REALLY HARD to be a hero, to do the right thing. And what did it get him? A big steaming pile of… uh, tears. A steaming pile of tears. That’s a thing, right? Anyway, if that’s all he’s gonna get for all that effort… why even try?

IGN Comics: Why would Deadpool want to kill his best frenemy Cable?

Duggan: Just before Secret Empire began Deadpool needed help to save the Preston family, and his friends weren't immediately available -- so he turned to an enemy: Stryfe. Stryfe saved for lives for him, and now Deadpool must pay his price: he has to kill 4 people for him. Cable is the first name that Stryfe gives him. Deadpool might have been able to do some damage control after Secret Empire, but now with Stryfe calling in his maker.

White: It makes a lot of sense, really—Cable was the first friend Wade had that did the heavy lifting of bringing him around to the good-guy side of the fence. What better way to break bad than to betray the first guy who saw good in you?

DESPICABLE DEADPOOL #287 & 288

DEADPOOL KILLS CABLE

Continuing directly out of the pages of MARVEL LEGACY #1!

Deadpool’s going back to his vile beginnings as a mercenary and wanted killer. No more being a hero. No more X-Men. No more Avengers. And if he wants to break bad again, what’s more despicable than killing your best friend? Cable better get ready because his old friend Wade has him in the crosshairs.

I'm excited for the legacy storylines for Deadpool. I think Wade returning to bad guy mode is an interesting turn of events and totally makes since with all he's been through lately.

I'm a fan of the renumbering also but I don't think Agent X should be included. I know it was the replacement for the Deadpool run and but he was only in the last couple issues of the series as a guest appearance basically. Not that big of a deal though, some of the other renumbered title are way more confusing. Lol

I know Deadpool wasn't the titular character in Agent X.. as we found out at the end of the series.. but it WAS the replacement title and there was no DP ongoing running alongside it. Originally when trying to figure out the numbering, I counted MWAM, and issues 900 and 1000 of the 2008 volume to get to the same numbering.. instead of Agent X. But Agent X makes more sense to me because MWAN ran ALONGSIDE the main ongoing title.

Yeah I'd rather them use Agent X than another series that ran at the same time as a main ongoing title. It would have gotten really confusing if they were trying to count a bunch of the other mini series. That would get ridiculous.

Deadpool's numbering is pretty straight forward compared to the Iron Man, Hulk, ASM, series.
