I don't understand this Deadpool reference...

Postby Lovingtacos » Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:07 am

Past August's Avengers #10 featured the Steve Rogers-assembled Avengers composed of the Vision, Wade and the Superior Octopus, among others. They go on a mission to recover an Hydra base from some aliens that were supposedly attacking it. Once they get there, the team splits... and as Deadpool goes along Vision in search of these aliens, they have this dialogue:

Wade: Ghuh. This is just like that movie.
Vision: What movie?
Wade: Kramer vs Kramer. Man, if they 'd only both known somebody named "Martha"...

I can't see the relation between their situation and the film. Is it possible that Waid came up with that random reference just to make the Batman v. Superman joke? Or maybe there's something else to it?

Thank you in advance! :)

The movie is about a “split up” of sorts and it is definitely a jab at Batman V Superman.

(Facepalm)

Thank you! The joke is quite clever, isn't it? It refers up to three "splits", aside from adding the infamous "Martha" episode.
