YOU ARE DEADPOOL Series

This May, the fourth wall will be broken like never before…because you can be Deadpool!

The Merc with the Mouth will be your guide as he takes you on a fantastic ride that doubles as a role playing adventure in this new five-part weekly limited series where adventure, danger, and the future all rests in your hands!

Written by Al Ewing with art by Salva Espin and Paco Diaz, YOU ARE DEADPOOL is an interactive narrative that lets readers control Deadpool’s story by rolling dice, keeping track of their scores, and making smart (or disastrous) decisions. And be prepared to meet some classic and unique guest stars as you travel through time as Deadpool in a whirlwind adventure!

“YOU ARE DEADPOOL is a five-part adventure gamebook in the classic tradition of Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, and Diceman—where you (and the cut-out-and-keep Deadpool Die) control the action! Every week brings a complete single-player adventure—where you encounter glamorous guest-stars like Hulk, Ghost Rider, Grasshopper, Daredevil, and another Grasshopper—that form an epic quest the like of which you’ve never seen, unless you have!” teases series writer Al Ewing. “And there’s more! Fight end-of-level bosses! Manage your inventory by stealing background objects! Explore five different time zones in nearly any order! Play the tutorial level! Enjoy unique minigames about bar fights, beat poetry, and sneaking through levels! Laugh! Cry! Cheat! It’s all waiting for you—because YOU ARE DEADPOOL!”

It’s a series unlike anything Marvel Comics has ever done—new and seasoned readers alike will get their chance to play this May, when YOU ARE DEADPOOL hits your local comic shop!

Oh man, this can be GLORIOUS...

Thank you very much for the heads-up!

EDIT: Jordan White has said on Twitter it will be released weekly throughout May

My concern at this point is how Paco Díaz adds to the project. That they'd jump between the two artists without give a solid justification. It shouldn't be likely in this case, as their art doesn't have much in common, but... who knows!

For instance, and based on what is seen on the preview, Espín could be pencilling the tutorial level and some other instruction pieces popping up from time to time, and Díaz the bulk of the story/ies. I can't think of any other scenario that'd make the series look cohesive.

Any thoughts on this?

Maybe, because it’s a choose your own adventure, one artist drew the adventure that you choose one way and one artist drew the adventure that you choose another way.

Just a guess.

It's possible, too. Let's see if there's some clarification within the solicitations... Though they are not being very helpful lately (today's Despicable Deadpool was listed as having art by Matteo Lolli, for example).

But the whole mini is going to be released on the same month, so who cares!! ;)

Yet another double-post...

I just happened to find solicitation info for the series on a spanish website. Haven't be able to contrast it anywhere, but chances are high they might've contacted Salva Espín himself (or Diaz). In any case, we'll know if it's true next tuesday.

YOU ARE DEADPOOL #1 (of 5)

Pencils by SALVA ESPIN (issues #1, 3, 5) y PACO DIAZ (issues #2, 4).

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Espin. He's done a lot of the minis.

Yes, yes! Espín is working on it; that much is confirmed.

What bugged me was that on Marvel's website -the article quoted on the OP- mentioned Paco Diaz, but he wasn't anywhere else (on Twitter basically). So, wondering what his role was... I came onto this spanish article that explains it.

That was the drama, pretty much ;D
