IGN Comics: What does Deadpool have to do with all this?
Bendis: His involvement is a big clue to who ends up being the new Kingpin. Don't worry, it’s not him

IGN Comics: How does Despicable Deadpool embrace Marvel Legacy?
Writer Gerry Duggan: Mid-way through the event it's not a secret to readers that Deadpool will get burned in Secret Empire. He will receive the blame for everything he did, and none of the credit for any of the strings he pulled behind the scenes. Peter Parker's luck has nothing on Wilson's. Deadpool's origins were that of a villain. That's what we're honoring in Legacy.
Editor Jordan White: Deadpool started off as a bad guy when he appeared in New Mutants, and we’re bringing him back to those roots. Wade’s spent the last few years trying REALLY HARD to be a hero, to do the right thing. And what did it get him? A big steaming pile of… uh, tears. A steaming pile of tears. That’s a thing, right? Anyway, if that’s all he’s gonna get for all that effort… why even try?
IGN Comics: Why would Deadpool want to kill his best frenemy Cable?
Duggan: Just before Secret Empire began Deadpool needed help to save the Preston family, and his friends weren't immediately available -- so he turned to an enemy: Stryfe. Stryfe saved for lives for him, and now Deadpool must pay his price: he has to kill 4 people for him. Cable is the first name that Stryfe gives him. Deadpool might have been able to do some damage control after Secret Empire, but now with Stryfe calling in his maker.
White: It makes a lot of sense, really—Cable was the first friend Wade had that did the heavy lifting of bringing him around to the good-guy side of the fence. What better way to break bad than to betray the first guy who saw good in you?
