Here's what GPA says about New Mutants #98 in 9.6:

2011 Average: (128) $120
2012 Average: (152) $175
Last 12 Months Average: (221) $207
90 Day Average: (53) $223
Most Recent Sale: $189 Nov-2013

The numbers in parentheses are how many sales have been recorded.

Hope that helps!

I've contemplated sending one of mine in for grading but I wouldn't consider any of them mint. They each have some minor flaw.

My local comic shop has two of these and they are both 200 dollars. Or close to it. It had a 9.6 grading on it.

You can still pretty easily find non-cgc'ed copies in the 8.0+ range for under 100$. I picked up my 4th copy which was probably a 9.0 for $75 a couple of weeks ago on ebay.

slightly off topic, I've been trying to research about the difference between the barcoded and the 50th anniversary versions of the NM #98... is it literally just the barcode or is one a second printing of the comic. I've been searching for a while now but I've had no luck so far. I was just wondering if any of you guys know at all?

When I bought my barcoded version 3-4 years ago I didnt even notice that there were two versions. But since the DP boom and becoming more available on the market I just keep seeing the 2 versions.

If somesone could enlighten me on this mystery, it'll put my mind at ease haha.

(Was lucky enough to meet stan lee this year in London to get my copy signed :), funnily enough 2-3 others inline near me had a 98 in their hands to get signed)

Barcoded copies were sold at retail locations like book and convenience stores and the ones without the barcode were direct sale that went to people with subscriptions and comic shops.

At least that's my understanding.

ah that would make sense, that would surely make the price different for barcoded version (cheaper) not that i would sell it , just nice to know what I'm dealing with! probably end up getting the 50th cap version at some point. Just wish I was more aware of it when I got it, as prices for it like the above are starting to become ridiculous.

After researching with your insight, found out there isnt much of a different in price but newstands are actually slightly rarer. But obivously the direct is a lot nicer to the eye.

Just going to keep an eye out on a direct issue. May get lucky on ebay or if anyone is thinking about selling to a fellow Fan let me know!
